Constantly changing bill and charges

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - An unauthorized new CareCredit account was opened with new statements and a fictitious $500 charge; they are trying to affect my high credit score.

My guess is since my balance was getting low or being paid off completely, they had to devise a way to get more $$ from me so they opened a new account (two different statements and card numbers) which I did not request and never wanted. They then invented a $500 charge that never occurred (I have every vet bill and all other receipts from the only 3 pet-related vendors paid for with CareCredit).

None were exactly $500.

Now, they are trying to impact my credit score which was over 800 before dealing with these bastards. I have other cards and have never had this issue or anything like it.

Cons:
  • Not worth initial rate as they will bait and switch

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: NEVER USE CARECREDIT/SYNCHRONY NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE INITIAL OFFER

  • - Never received CareCredit card or Diamond Braces service.
  • - Fraud alleged; a fake receipt was provided after delays; complaints filed.
CareCredit - Scam and fraud

I NEVER RECEIVED CARECREDIT (CC) CARD. I NEVER RECEIVED MEDICAL TREATMENT THROUGH CARECREDIT.

DIAMOND BRACES (DB) FRAUDULENTLY OPENED THIS ACCOUNT. WHEN I FIRST RECEIVED THIS ERRONEOUS BILL IN 2021, I WENT TO DB TO CLEAR THESE FRAUDULENT CHARGES AND CLOSE THE ACCOUNT. AFTER MONTHS OF IGNORING ME, DB GAVE ME FAKE RECEIPT. I NEVER HAD ANY SERVICE FROM DB EXCEPT COMPLIMENTARY CONSULTATION REFERRED BY MY DENTIST.

DB REGIONAL MANAGER, DENISE PROMISED TO CALL ME BACK IN DEC. 2022. BUT I AM STILL WAITING. DB IGNORES MY CALLS AND EMAILS.

CARECREDIT IS FULLY AWARE OF THIS FRAUD.

THEY HAVE BEEN GIVEN PROOF MULTIPLE TIMES BUT STILL CONTINUE TO CHARGE ME AND OPENING MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS UNDER MY NAME AND SSN.

EQUIFAX HAS ALL PROOF BUT I AM NOT SURE WHY THEY DO NOT REMOVE THIS FRAUDULENT ACCOUNT FROM MY CREDIT REPORT. DETAILED COMPLAINTS ABOUT DB AND CARE CREDIT IS MADE TO NJ BOARD OF DENTISTRY CFPB BBB ETC.

AGAIN I NEVER AUTHORIZED ANYONE TO ACTIVATE THIS ACCOUNT DB/CC NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED

Loss:
$1400
Cons:
  • Scam
  • Lies
  • Fraud

Preferred solution: Refund all fraudulent charges, stop opening multiple fraudulent accounts on my name, clear incorrect and fraudulent information from credit bureaus

User's recommendation: Stay away from diamond braces and care credit scam

"paid this account ahead of time." Translation: By paying them before they can make a little money off of you is the dumbest thing anyone can do especially with a bank like this. Banks only have so much credit that they can offer.

Rather the provide you with interest free loans, they shut you down and moved your credit limit to someone who will use it and make them money. Before you start with the nonsense, Google what I said.

  • - A rep said negatives exist on my credit, but not from CareCredit.
Original review updated Jun 20, 2025

I opened a CareCredit card years ago. I made all payments; my balance was zero.

Without notice, they closed my account. I called and spoke to someone who didn't care. He advised that my credit report showed negative things, but not with them. Strange.

No one else closed my accounts. I actually have a good credit score. The only negative thing about my credit is these people closing my account. I did not ask to reopen it, and I will not.

If looking for a credit card, please get it elsewhere. The name CareCredit is very misleading.

Cons:
  • Will close your account just because they feel like it

User's recommendation: My recommendation is go with any other credit card.

Not Caring At All

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Longtime Care Credit user; maxed the card for dog's surgeries; $1,000 payment lowered available credit; Care Credit feels like another credit card.

I've been a Care Credit customer for years. I've never missed a payment and almost always paid off promotional purchases before they expired.

In the past year, my senior dog has been ill and has needed several surgeries, so I have maxed the card out several times.

A few weeks ago, I made a payment of $1,000, and Care Credit rewarded me by actually lowering my available credit by that much. They may talk about how caring they are, but in the end, they are actually just another credit card company.

Pros:
  • Accepted many places
Cons:
  • Decrease credit limit after balance is paid off

No response from Carecredit as yet.

Original review Jan 16, 2025
I am an older member of society with a very sour taste in my mouth (literally) from using Carecredit for my dental needs. Some years ago the company was recommended by a dentist's office for me to have some major work done.

First of all, a huge red flag and inconsiderate to the borrower is the fact that the funds are given to the merchant as full payment before any of the work is done. This is done through a method called upcharge where the merchant sends in a treatment plan stating that the work is completed when it is not. This is exactly what happened in my case, the result was, that the dentist never did the work due to sickness and the closure of his office, he bluntly told me he had no money to refund me and died soon after. I have disputed the charge numerous times with Carectedit for all to be resolved in favour of the dentist.

They were well aware of the dentist's inability to perform the work by a letter he sent them and which was furnished to me, but they elected to believe the dishonest dentist who defamed my character claiming that I was fretting because I did not want to pay them back their money. I was forced to pay the balance of the promotion to secure my credibility and lost $11,999 in the interim.

I will conclude that Carecredit may be useful for fast funds if your credit is good but their policies lean heavily toward money laundering and I will not have any part of them ever in my life again. I would like to advise others to try their best to save their money or try some other way than to get reeled into these cutthroat companies' practices that do not care about the patients but the merchants.
Loss:
$12
Pros:
  • Quick funds if credit worthy
Cons:
  • Merchant care and not customer cate

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: Be very careful

"I am an older member of society" As if that means anything other that you're a drain on society. If you're going to pad your complain with irrelevant noise, find something else.

I think you may have gotten lost between the lines of empathy and compassion, but carry on.

I think you may have thought wrong. Anyone who pads their complaint with irrelevant factoids such as age are typically feckless fools who need to add a little something extra for they sympathy factors. I hope this helps.

Got bill late, blaming me - Care Credit

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - I got a bill Saturday 3 pm with a next-day due date; they first said no late fee, then a letter claims late fee, higher rate, and credit reporting.

I got a bill in the mail on Saturday, March 8 at 3 pm. I got my checkbook out to pay the balance in full.

Then I noticed it was due the next day, Sunday, March 9. There is no way they would get it on time.

I called and they looked into it. Then I was told that they mailed it put on time. But because I always pay on time and this is the first time it's happened they would "let it go" and will not charge a late fee or increase my interest rate.

I explained that there has been a problem with mail, sometimes I get someone's mail and maybe someone got mine.

So, a few days later I get a letter stating that after their investigation they find that they mailed my bill on time and not only will they charge a late fee and increase my interest rate, they will report me to the credit bureaus!

I have excellent credit! This is ridiculous.

She kept saying that because it's a credit card they have to report it to the "big three."

If you were current on your payment, there is nothing to report. As long as February 9th’s payment was paid.

It has to be 30 days past due to be reported. That being said, their customer service is open 6am-11pm M-F and Sat-Sun 8am-10pm and will take a phone payment. You can also pay via the App or online. As far as them raising your interest rate, didn’t you say you were paying the full balance?

So that’s not an issue unless you use the card in the future. However at 32.99% interest rate and a 39.99% penalty rate you should look elsewhere.

If you had good credit you wouldn’t need a secured card.

You must not have ever visited a dentist, because you would know they are even more expensive than a medical doctor. A lot of dentists do not take any type of insurance and they do not let people make payments.

So, if you need a procedure(s) that costs thousands, you have to pay it all up front. Even people with perfect credit and a healthy bank account may not financially be able to afford that! Care credit would allow them to make payments. My advice to you would be to A.

know what the *** you are talking about before you post and B.

see a dentist, even if you have to go on a waiting list to be seen at a dental school by a student. BTW: I am not the OP.
